WHAT ARE BARNYARD MILLETS
Barnyard Millet is a wild tiny white round seed that is predominantly grown in Uttaranchal, India. It is a good source of protein, carbohydrate, fiber, and, most notably, contains more micronutrients (iron and zinc) than other major cereals. It can be served as porridge or Kheer to six to eight-month-old babies and as cheela, dosa, and idlis for children above one year. It is also called as “Sanwa Rice’’ as it tastes almost similar to broken rice when cooked. Barnyard Millet is a true gift of nature to the modern diet and sedentary activities that can lead to many disorders in the body.
